TWS exists because domain research was needlessly fragmented. Checking who owns a domain, whether its DNS is healthy, what similar names have sold for, and what it might be worth used to mean five different websites, three of them plastered with upsells. We put the entire workflow on one site and made all of it free, with no account, no query limits beyond fair-use rate limiting, and no data collection beyond what the tools need to run.
Who This Site Is For
Our tools are built for three groups with overlapping needs. Domain investors use the WHOIS lookup, expired-domain feed and sale-history search to research acquisitions and price inventory. Business owners and founders use the valuation and premium-domain tools when buying a brand name, and the DNS and email-authentication scanners when something breaks. Developers and IT administrators reach for the DNS and TXT scanners as quick, scriptable-quality diagnostics that do not require logging into a registrar panel.
How Our Tools Get Their Data
We only use authoritative or licensed sources, and we say so per tool:
- WHOIS Explorer queries RDAP — ICANN’s structured successor to WHOIS — directly from registry infrastructure, with an optional commercial WHOIS API fallback.
- DNS and TXT scanners resolve live against Google Public DNS and Cloudflare DNS-over-HTTPS, the same resolvers a large share of the internet uses.
- Sale history, expired domains and premium listings come from licensed marketplace and data-provider APIs. We deliberately do not scrape other websites — scraped data is unreliable and violates providers’ terms.
- Valuations are produced by our own published algorithm (the methodology is documented openly on the valuation page) and are labeled as informational estimates, never as professional appraisals.
Our Editorial Approach
Every tool page on this site carries in-depth, original guidance written from the practical experience of researching, buying and selling domains: how to read the results, what the numbers do and do not mean, and where the traps are — trademark conflicts, spammed backlink histories, SPF lookup limits, drop-catch mechanics. We would rather explain a limitation honestly than pretend a free tool replaces professional judgment. When our results should be double-checked against a paid service or a licensed broker, the page says so.
Accuracy, Caching and Fair Use
Live lookups are cached briefly (typically up to an hour) to keep the tools fast and to respect upstream providers, so very recent changes can lag slightly. Per-visitor rate limits keep the service free for everyone. If you find a result that looks wrong, use our contact form — reproducible reports get investigated.
